Maine Sweet Maine

A recent trip to Maine’s coastal region made this girl's soul sing. I’m not one for singing out loud so when I find myself not only dancing, but singing on the beach, I’m downright elated. The cause of all of this happiness? A state that, for me, is rooted in an authentic way of living life in an environment that is ever giving of great beauty…oh and I found my first sand dollar.

This perfectly shaped sand dollar is said to be a blessing. As if finding this holy shell wasn’t enough, my sweet husband brought me to a working cove on Bailey Island that was loaded with an abundance of sea glass. What a blessed trip it turned out to be.

Maine, until we meet again….

Back in the Saddle

What have I been up to you may ask? I had to ask myself that very same question today. The answer - a lot of nothing and everything all at the same time. Do you ever have a stretch of downtime and as it draws to an end, you think, “Jeez, I’ve done absolutely nothing with myself.”? And then, as soon as you get back into the swing of things, you realize your mind, on some deeper level, has been busy thinking, planning and sorting things out for you. Well, that’s where I’ve been, for the most part anyway. There was a side trip to Maine in there too - more on that later in the week.

Since I’ve been back from my Virginia trip though, I have to admit I’ve had some serious furniture envy and have done quite a bit of daydreaming about re-doing the living room. Not that there’s anything truly wrong with how it is now, it’s just not quite reflective of me and our lifestyle. Plus, it’s a furniture haven down there. I challenge you to walk into store after store filled with custom made, quality, beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces with character and not be left with the wants. Here’s a little glimpse of what I’m obsessing over:

Told you ;)

Between this trip and a recent Nate Berkus show on re-using what you have, I was inspired to re-do a couple of lamps that I just recently put in the ever growing garage sale pile.

Isn’t it amazing what some paint and new lamp shades can do?
